美国水下科技公司在2013年法国国际军警设备展览会上展示了用于内河、港口水域监视侦察的CAT-Surveyo无人水面艇。这种无人水面艇长3米，宽1.6米，重约270千克，采用双体船型设计，可携带重约80千克的监视侦察设备，如摄像机、测扫声呐、多波束声呐、回声仪、磁力计、物理-化学传感器等。
据介绍，该型无人艇可连续工作12小时，具有远程遥控和自主导航等两种操作模式，可用于河流水文数据采集和针对港口、内陆水域的侦察监视工作。艇上还配有小型遥控潜水器和高清摄像装置，并可选配用于浑浊水域的声呐成像设备。

声明说，&KATANA&无人水面艇包括自动导航和自动防撞系统，并装配有电光和红外相机、视距和非视距通信、雷达和武器系统等。这种无人水面艇能在大范围内执行多种任务，如保护专属经济区、海上边界、港口安全、离岸天然气钻井平台和管道，以及进行浅水巡逻和电子战等。它还能通过对远近目标进行辨识、追踪和分类，提供实时情报图像，并根据指令对目标发动进攻，可全自动操作，也可由人遥控操作。
以色列航空航天工业公司一位不愿透露姓名的高层官员对新华社记者说，&KATANA&是他们公司生产的无人水面艇家族的最新成员，由该公司下属的工厂制造。
无人水面艇配备先进的控制系统、传感器系统、通信系统和武器系统，可执行多种战争和非战争军事任务，主要用于执行危险以及不适于载人舰艇执行的任务。以色列在无人水面艇研发和使用领域一直处于领先地位。世界上第一代实战操作的&保护者&无人水面艇就是由以色列拉斐尔先进防务系统有限公司研制的。
